Kisnimi Ti – Transitional Housing Program

Kisnimi Ti is an Indigenous, recovery-focused transitional housing program designed to support individuals transitioning from encampments, shelters, or conditional release, who are working toward stability, healing, and long-term housing.
The program provides 16 units, including both bachelor suites and one-bedroom units. All units require participants to be fully ambulatory, as there are no accessible units available at this location.
Program Access & Referrals
Kisnimi Ti is low-barrier and accepts referrals from multiple pathways, including:
- Self-referrals
- Edmonton-based Housing First teams
- Emergency shelters
- Family/community referrals
- Agencies supporting individuals leaving encampments or corrections
Program Requirements
Participants must be able to:
- Prepare their own meals
- Participate in budgeting and money management with staff
- Maintain a moderate level of independence (meal planning, shopping, cleaning)
- Engage in a recovery-focused, culturally grounded environment
- Work collaboratively with staff on their transition plan
Program Services Offered
Kisnimi Ti provides 24/7 onsite wrap-around support, including:
- Case Management (housing stabilization, goal planning, system navigation)
- Life Skills Workers (daily living support, budgeting, meals, cleaning, routines)
- Full-Time Cultural Knowledge Keeper (ceremony, teachings, cultural support)
- Support with re-housing, including:
- Case management support
- Financial assistance when appropriate
- Move-out planning and transition supports
Program Model
- Standard stay is based on 3-month leases, with extensions based on progress
- Rent is RGI (Rent-Geared-to-Income) at 30% of income, following Edmonton’s Maximum Monthly Rental (MMR) guidelines
- The program is culturally grounded, trauma-informed, and designed to promote safety, stability, and long-term independence
